About Theresa

My path to becoming a therapist has been shaped by a deep curiosity about people and a belief that every person's story deserves to be met with compassion, respect, and genuine understanding.

For the last 18 years I have worked as an RN, primarily in the Emergency Department, supporting individuals and families through moments of crisis, uncertainty, grief, and hope. I also trained and worked as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for 3 years. Alongside my work in healthcare, I found another way of understanding the human experience through creativity. As a ceramics artist, I experienced firsthand how creating with our hands can help us process, express, and discover things that words alone sometimes cannot.

These experiences all contributed to where I am today and how I found my way to counseling.

I absolutely love working as a nurse and love my art, but wanted to provide more proactive support for people, not just reactive. This field is a merge of it all; blending my passions for connection, art, and healing.

I believe people make sense in the context of their lives. The ways we think, feel, cope, and relate to others often begin as creative adaptations to help us survive, protect ourselves, or find connection. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" I'm more interested in asking, "What happened?" and "How has your story shaped who you are?" and “Are those skills you learned to survive still serving you?”

One of the greatest lessons I've learned is that people are remarkably resilient. Even when life feels overwhelming, I believe we each carry strengths that can become difficult to recognize beneath stress, pain, or self-doubt. Therapy offers a space to slow down, better understand yourself, and discover new ways of moving forward that feel authentic to who you are.

Outside of the therapy room, you'll often find me creating pottery, quilting, exploring mountain trails, traveling, or spending time in nature. These parts of my life continually remind me that growth isn't something we force—it unfolds through time, patience, and compassion.

It is a privilege to be invited into someone's story. My hope is to offer a space where you feel genuinely seen, supported, and empowered as we navigate whatever has brought you here—together.

My Approach

I believe healing happens in the context of safe, meaningful connection. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and deeply relational. I strive to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and accepted as you are—without judgment, pressure, or the need to have everything figured out. Therapy is not something I do to you; it is a process we engage in together.

I view each client as the expert on their own life and honor the unique experiences, strengths, values, and identities they bring into the room. Rather than following a rigid formula, I tailor our work to your needs, goals, and readiness, allowing therapy to unfold at a pace that feels supportive and sustainable.

My work is informed by person-centered, trauma-informed, mindfulness-based, somatic, and expressive arts approaches. I pay attention x only to thoughts and emotions, but also to the body’s wisdom, relationships, creativity, and the broader context of your life. When words alone are not enough, creative and expressive approaches can offer new pathways for exploration, insight, and healing.

Above all, I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is an important part of the healing process. I show up authentically and wholeheartedly, valuing presence, curiosity, compassion, and genuine human connection. My hope is that therapy becomes a space where you can better understand yourself, reconnect with your strengths, and find healing.
